Bio

Jim is a man of many talents who has had a diverse career in both real estate and addiction treatment. After serving with the US Army’s 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam, he spent 30 years in real estate, managing shopping centers for major companies such as ITT, General Electric, Prudential Insurance, and Travelers Insurance.

His second career began at the Hazelden Foundation in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he worked on the men’s unit and later on the older adult unit. He was soon promoted to the education department, where he supervised the professional addiction training Institute and the Physician Faculty Training Program. Jim also led the internship programs with eight Master degree programs, eventually becoming the chairman of the Education Team and a member of the Clinical Leadership and Executive Leadership Teams.

In 2002, Jim was sent to Costa Rica as a consultant and expert on the Minnesota model, where he made a presentation to governmental agencies responsible for healthcare in the country. He was later contracted to become the Clinical Director of ACERPA in San Jose, where he successfully implemented the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Model. Jim’s extensive experience and expertise in addiction treatment have made him a valuable member of our team.
