Bio

Deborah Schmit is a licensed psychologist through Universidad Autónoma de Centro América with more than a decade of experience in holistic and humanistic psychology and providing compassionate, client-centered care to individuals in Costa Rica. With a deep understanding of the challenges women face when seeking treatment and continuing on the recovery journey, Deborah’s mission is to carry the message of hope in recovery to female patients at the center. She offers a holistic approach to recovery coaching, combined with compassion, to give women a genuine opportunity to put the past behind them and travel the road to recovery.

As a bilingual therapist, Deborah is able to serve clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures. She is skilled in a variety of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. She also has specialized training in working with trauma survivors and is licensed in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly effective therapy for processing traumatic experiences. Deborah is also certified in reflexology and acupressure, utilizing this knowledge to support her work with our clients.

Deborah works with her clients to identify the root causes of their struggles and develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals. Her compassionate and empathetic approach helps her clients feel safe and supported as they navigate the challenges of recovery. She also advocates for mental health awareness and education, sharing her expertise and insights with other mental health professionals and the broader community through frequent speaking engagements at conferences and workshops.

Deborah believes that everyone has the capacity for growth and healing. She is dedicated to helping her clients unlock their full potential and live more fulfilling lives. Her commitment to providing high-quality care makes her an invaluable asset to the CRR team.
